QWill any roads be closed before the race begins that might affect my route in?
ASo long as you arrive in good time you will avoid the road closures that come into effect to allow the Run to proceed. We advise everyone to be in the city by 9:00am, and if you do that you will avoid all road closures. If you arrive on the outskirts of Portsmouth after 10:00am don't try to drive down to the start area as the roads will no be passable.

QAre there any special travel arrangements for the 2008 Bupa Great South Run?
AFull travel advice for the event is contained within your Runners' Guide which is sent with your race number. Plan your route and arrive in plenty of time for a nice relaxed start to your day. You have two main options if you are bringing the car. For a quick getaway after the event, use the city centre car parks - the short walk to and from the seafront could save you lots of time in the traffic later on. If you're staying on after the race or in less of a rush, use Southsea Common. Or why not leave the car at home and come to the run by train?

We plan the traffic managment very carefully with the Police and Portsmouth City Council but a big event brings a lot of traffic. The best way to avoid it is to arrive early and leave later. Portsmouth and Southsea is a great place, so why not make a day of it!

QWhat time should I arrive at the 2008 Bupa Great South Run?
ASouthsea Common will be very busy as 19,500 runners and thier friends and families converge on the south coast for the event so please work out your route into the city and to the start in advance and allow plenty of time for your journey. You should aim to arrive in Portsmouth by 9:00am. The Runners' Guide details the assembly procedure and start time: please read this carefully. Its better to get there early and relax than to be rushing and feel stressed before the event.
